Rewas Port is being developed as a deep water all weather multi purpose port in public private partnership basis under a concession agreement with the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) under the Government of Maharashtra. Rewas Ports Limited, an SPV for the development, operation and management of the port, is being promoted by the Reliance Group.
The port is strategically located to cater to the hinterland cargo. The infrastructure facility at port will enable the port to be a preferred port of call by main line vessels. The port, apart from catering to the hinterland cargo, will also serve as a transshipment hub.
The approach to the port will be through an independent channel dredged to -14.5m CD which will be deepened to -16m and -20m CD in the phase II and phase III expansion respectively. The dock basin will have a dredged depth of -16m CD in the initial phase and the berths have been designed for a dredged level of -20m CD. Initial phase of the port with 9 berths has a design capacity to handle 66 mill tonnes of cargo.
